Jackie Wright holds graduate degrees in Flute Performance (University of Michigan), and Orchestral Conducting (University of Florida), as well as undergraduate degrees in Flute Performance and Music Education (University of Rhode Island). She has studied flute with Jeffery Zook and Sharon Sparrow (Detroit Symphony), Amy Porter (UM), Kristen Smith-Stoner (UF), and Susan Thomas (URI), and performed in masterclasses with William Bennett, Trevor Wye, Denis Bouriakov, Alberto Almarza, and others. Jackie studied conducting with Michael Haithcock (UM) and Raymond Chobaz (UF), and has served as the director of the Gainesville (FL) Flute Ensemble and the Southeast Michigan Flute Association Flute Ensemble.
An active teacher and performer in the Capital Region, Jackie maintains large private studios in Glenmont, Niskayuna, and at the Emma Willard school, and is a frequent woodwind coach for the Empire State Youth Orchestras as well as the University of Rhode Island's Summer Music Academy. She can also be heard performing regularly with groups such as the Capital Region Wind Ensemble, Glens Falls Symphony, Schenectady-Saratoga Symphony, Berkshire Lyric, and Broad Street Players of Kinderhook, NY.
